Standout Moment(s):
Suffocation, one of the finest and most brutal bands to emerge from Long Island, New York, made their fourth overall appearance on the metal seas, and there’s a clear reason they keep coming back. They’re brutal, explosive, and undeniable legends. With Ricky Myers stepping in on vocals following Frank Mullen’s retirement in 2018, the band remains as ferocious as ever. No matter how many times you see them, it never feels like enough. We caught both sets: the first inside the Royal Theater, drenched in near–pitch-black, deep red lighting, and the second outdoors on the pool deck in the middle of the afternoon. A true yin-and-yang contrast in setting, yet it ultimately didn’t matter; Suffocation delivered with the same intensity and force both times, and it was fantastic.

Latest Suffocation News
Suffocation struck up a friendship with Cradle of Filth in 2025 while supporting their European tour, and that connection is carrying over into 2026. The band will once again join the UK extreme metal legends as support on their North American tour, kicking off this spring.
What is the Artist Spotlight?
Well, it’s more than a review of their performance; as 70000tons goes, each band is a headliner, and we treat each one as such, giving them their own spread, discussing who they are and what they’ve been up to since the cruise. Each spotlight coincides with any updates from 70000tons organizers (if any), leading to days before setting sail. An extensive coverage like no other.
