Standout Moment(s):
Decapitated have one of the most tumultuous histories in modern metal. These Polish death metal veterans have faced tragedy, prison, and countless lineup shifts, yet the driving force has always remained with founding guitarist Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka. Nearly thirty years into their career, Vogg continues to guide the band through every high and low, with each new member adding another chapter to their story.
Their first-ever appearance at 70000tons of Metal felt like the start of a new era. The lineup now includes drummer James Stewart (since 2019), touring bassist Paweł Pasek (since 2021), and, most recently, vocalist Eemeli Bodde, who stepped in following Rafał Piotrowski’s departure in 2024 after fifteen years with the group.
On stage, Decapitated came across like a band reborn. The energy was different, fresher, more dynamic, and their live chemistry carried a sense of renewal. While their history is marred by hardship, their powerful performance suggested a turning point: one that looks forward with resilience rather than back on misfortune.

Latest Decapitated News
While Decapitated have kept busy on this year’s festival circuit, 2026 already looms large on their horizon. Next year marks the band’s 30th anniversary, as well as the 20th anniversary of their fourth studio album, Organic Hallucinosis (2006). It remains to be seen how the group will honor these milestones, whether through touring, new material, or reimagined classics. For now, Decapitated have a full slate of shows booked through the remainder of 2025, with tickets available at this location.
What is the Artist Spotlight?
Well, it’s more than a review of their performance; as 70000tons goes, each band is a headliner, and we treat each one as such, giving them their own spread, discussing who they are and what they’ve been up to since the cruise. Each spotlight coincides with any updates from 70000tons organizers (if any), leading to days before setting sail. An extensive coverage like no other.
