Standout Moment(s):
Representing the East Coast, death metal legends Incantation are veterans and masters of the subgenre and thankfully, returned to the metal seas for another dosage of blistering mesmerization. While they were unlucky to get the Star Lounge, as the schedule always is, anything and any band that fits goes, we unfortunately missed that set and saved it for their Royal Theater appearance the following day at 3:00 AM. While it may not feel as fun and magical for the members themselves, there’s something great about seeing either a death, black, or melodeath act during the late hours on the cruise and Incantation were no exception. Their set still resonates today, months later, as John McEntee slayed that evening. It gave a full adrenaline rush to survive the rest of the evening, while also hungry to see them again.

Latest Incantation News
There’s some movement in the Incantation camp, and hopefully, it signals that new music is on the way. The death metal veterans have been announced as headliners for the 2026 Shamrock Slaughter Festival, and they’ve also unveiled a North American tour supporting Belphegor, along with Hate and Narcotic Wasteland. Belphegor and Hate were no strangers to 70000 Tons of Metal, and if this momentum brings Incantation and Hate back to the boat for a second year in a row, you won’t hear any complaints from us. Now we can keep dreaming and hope for a Belphegor to make a return to the boat. The group also recently released an Onward to Golgotha live deluxe box set, celebrating over 30 years of their legendary debut and their death metal legacy.
What is the Artist Spotlight?
Well, it’s more than a review of their performance; as 70000tons goes, each band is a headliner, and we treat each one as such, giving them their own spread, discussing who they are and what they’ve been up to since the cruise. Each spotlight coincides with any updates from 70000tons organizers (if any), leading to days before setting sail. An extensive coverage like no other.
