Standout Moment(s):
Hailing from Ecuador, doom/death metal veterans returned to the metal seas for their second appearance, eight years after first boarding the ship in 2017. Unfortunately, scheduling can sometimes feel as punishing as the band names themselves. We caught their first set at the brutal hour of 5:00 AM inside the Studio B ice rink theater, feeling close to “total death” ourselves. Despite the grueling time slot, a dedicated group of troopers held their ground at the barricade, while others tried to sneak in brief naps along the seated areas. Once the band launched into their set, however, whatever energy remained snapped into focus. Bleary eyes opened as wide as they could while the group delivered their somber, crushing take on death/doom.

What is the Artist Spotlight?

Well, it’s more than a review of their performance; as 70000tons goes, each band is a headliner, and we treat each one as such, giving them their own spread, discussing who they are and what they’ve been up to since the cruise. Each spotlight coincides with any updates from 70000tons organizers (if any), leading to days before setting sail. An extensive coverage like no other.
