Standout Moment(s):
Greek symphonic death metal titans Septicflesh made their long-awaited return to the metal seas in 2025. As always, it was a pleasure watching these longtime “friends” unleash controlled chaos across their expansive catalog. This year saw the band perform twice, opening their run on the first night in the Ice Rink Theater, followed by a second appearance in broad daylight on the Pool Deck during the final day of the cruise. The contrast in settings made for an interesting pairing, though one can’t help but hope their next appearance lands them in a dusk or evening Pool Deck slot, and hopefully grants them access to the Royal Theater. Regardless, Septicflesh continue to leave little room for disappointment. Their time performing with a full symphony, particularly during the Mexico City live set, has clearly elevated their stage presence and execution. Beyond that, it’s still the immersive madness fans expect, and the band continues to deliver flawlessly every time.

Latest Septicflesh News
Septicflesh continue to elevate both their craft and aesthetic, and 2025 marked another major milestone with two monumental performances at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus beneath the Acropolis of Athens. The shows featured a special collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra, alongside adult and children’s choirs, conducted by Koen Schoots.
These performances were not only historic for the band, but also for the venue itself, as they became among the final events held there before the Odeon closed for extensive maintenance and restoration, scheduled to last the next three years. Looking ahead to 2026, Septicflesh have already announced a few festival appearances, including Graspop Metal Meeting and Hellfest, with hopes that more live dates will surface as the year continues to unfold.
What is the Artist Spotlight?
Well, it’s more than a review of their performance; as 70000tons goes, each band is a headliner, and we treat each one as such, giving them their own spread, discussing who they are and what they’ve been up to since the cruise. Each spotlight coincides with any updates from 70000tons organizers (if any), leading to days before setting sail. An extensive coverage like no other.
