September 6, 2024 Release Highlights:
The The, Ensoulment (Cinéola/EarMusic):
The English post-punk pioneers release their first studio album in nearly 25 years, which explores “topics ranging from love & sex, war & politics, life & death – to the meaning of what it is to be human in the 21st century.”
David Gilmour, Luck And Strange (Sony Music):
The Pink Floyd guitarist/vocalist releases his first new studio album in nine years.
Fig Dish, Feels Like the Very First Two Times (Forge Again):
After recording it 27 years ago, the Chicago alt-rockers finally release their third album.
God Is An Astronaut, Embers (Napalm):
The Irish rockers release their 11th studio effort, which is described as their “most extensive, personal and grandiose production to date.”
Knitting, Some Kind of Heaven (Mint):
Taking inspiration from 90s alt-rock, the band’s debut album is “full of fuzzed-out guitar textures, thick bass lines, and sweeping drum fills, all cocooning — but never fully submerging — Dempsey’s whispered vocals.”
Public Opinion, Painted on Smile (Convulse):
The band’s debut LP combines the “melodicism of early aughts rock, the intensity of hardcore, and the spiky swagger of primordial punk.”
Vestige, Janis (Season Of Mist):
On their debut album, the heavy-rockers bring “atmospheric shoegaze textures, melodic landscapes and intense, tormented moments” together in a way that “reflects the emotional spectrum of the human experience.”
