Miss May I, Apologies Are for the Weak (Re-Recorded 15th Anniversary Edition) (Solid State):
For the it’s 15th anniversary, the Ohio metalcore band have re-recorded their breakthrough album with the help of some of their peers.
Jeff Schroeder, Metanoia (Clerestory AV):
The former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist releases his debut solo album. According to a social media post, the work is “72 minutes of meditative guitar work in the spirit of ambient pioneers Fripp & Eno.”
ENDON, Fall of Spring (Thrill Jockey):
With lyrics predominantly in English for the first time, the Japanese metal band’s latest album “is as much a dense, innovative onslaught as it is a work of musical and cultural resistance to the “Made in Occupied Japan” hegemony that dominates much of the art around them.”
Fleshgod Apocalypse, Opera (Nuclear Blast):
Inspired by frontman Francesco Paoli’s near fatal mountain climbing accident, the Italian black metal band’s sixth album hits on both the extreme and theatrical angles of their sound.
NILE, The Underworld Awaits Us All (Napalm):
The veteran metal band releases its 10th studio effort, which their bio describes as “boasting airtight technicality and unrelenting brutality” that “pushes each member of NILE to their furthest extremes both in artistry and performance.”
Simone Simons, Vermillion (Nuclear Blast):
The Epica frontwoman releases her debut solo album, pulling from an eclectic array of influences, ranging from “prog rock to film scores to metal to electronic elements.”
Stand Atlantic, Was Here (Hopeless):
The Australian pop-punk band “weaves elements from alternative rock, metal, hardcore punk, and hip-hop into their signature pop-punk sound” on what is described as their most vulnerable albums to date.
