August 2, 2024 Release Highlights:
The Smashing Pumpkins, Aghori Mhori Mei (Martha’s Music/Thirty Tigers):
More than two years in the making, the band’s 13th studio effort is billed as a “rock, guitar record” that old-school fans are sure to enjoy.
X, Smoke & Fiction (Fat Possum)
The veteran punk band releases its ninth and final studio album, which the group described as “a reflection ‘on the early history of X, their life in Hollywood, and the events unfolding in the world during those formative years.”
Jack White, No Name (Third Man):
Having secretly distributed test pressings of it at Third Man stores last week, the White Stripes/Raconteurs frontman officially drops his sixth studio album.
Anberlin, Vega (Equal Vision):
The band releases their eighth studio album, their first “proper release” since frontman Stephen Christian announced his departure from touring and the addition of Matty Mullins (Memphis May Fire) in his stead. The tracks, most of which were included on the band’s 2022 and 2023 EPs, are described as “deliberately free-flowing and represent the ever-evolving and diverse nature of Anberlin; with a handful of much heavier tracks, a dabble into industrial exploration, as well as the quintessential mellow vibes Anberlin fans have come to love over the band’s expansive career.”
Blind Guardian, Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited (Nuclear Blast):
The seminal German heavy metal band gives new life to their 1992 major label debut with this updated re-recording.
