August 9, 2024 Release Highlights:
Fucked Up, Another Day (Fucked Up):
The sequel to 2023’s One Day, the punk rockers again recorded each of their parts within the span of 24 hours, with each song speaking to it’s counterpart on the previous album.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Flight b741 ((P)Doom):
For their 26th album, the prolific Australian rockers head back to their blues rock roots, with frontman Stu Mackenzie saying they “wanted to make something that was primal, instinctual, more ‘from the gut’ – just people in a room, doing what feels right. We wanted to make something fun.”
Bill Wyman, Drive My Car (BMG):
The former Rolling Stones guitarist releases his first solo effort since 2015, writing it in tandem with his 2023 book Billy In The Wars.
Four Year Strong, analysis paralysis (Pure Noise):
In describing the pop punk band’s sixth studio album, New Noise says they “continue to intrigue listeners by reinventing their sound without compromising the elements that define Four Year Strong’s sound: light-hearted, pop-punk energy undercut by metal-inspired riffs.”
Grinspoon, whatever, whenever (Universal/Grinspoon):
The Australian rockers return with their first album of new music in 12 years. Vocalist Phil Jamieson told Rolling Stone the album is their most collaborative, saying “There’s a little bit of hardcore on this record, a little bit of punk, some emotional stuff with ‘Underground’ and ‘4, 5 & 7’. So yeah, there’s something for everyone.”
Hammerfall, Avenge the Fallen (Nuclear Blast):
The Swedish power metal band releases their 13th studio effort, which a press release says is their “most ambitious and powerful albums to date, building on their legacy while pushing their sound to new heights.”
Mushroomhead, Call the Devil (Napalm):
The band continues with the “accessable, hard-hitting anthems” on their ninth studio effort. It’s the recording debuts of vocalist Scott Beck, guitarist Joe “Jenkins” Gaal and drummer Aydin Kerr, as well as the return of guitarist Dave “Gravy” Felton.
