A few years ago, the food truck trend really caught on. Perhaps due to the Grill ’em All food truck winning the first season of reality series The Great Food Truck Race, there are now other metal-themed food trucks, like the Motley Crews Heavy Metal Grill truck in the Minneapolis suburb of Lakeville. Or rather, was. Last night (6) at around 11:30pm, there was an explosion that police think was caused due to a propane tank in the truck. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that two people were injured and up to 20 homes were damaged.
On Saturday morning, investigators from were still on the scene, picking through the wreckage. John Kornmann, deputy police chief of the Lakeville department, said up to 20 homes were damaged and two injuries have been reported. One of them is considered “hearing related.”
The blast was heard miles away. A GoFundMe site campaign has been set up for the food truck’s owners, Marty Richie and his partner Lisa. The truck, of course, is totally destroyed, and his house is uninhabitable as well. They apparently plan on opening a brick and mortar restaurant soon. Maybe this will give them the impetus to.
