dead cross

If you tune into Late Night With Seth Meyers this week, you’ll get a chance to see one of the best drummers in metal, as Dave Lombardo sits in on the kit. That’s not the only Lombardo news, however. As of today, his band Dead Cross, which features The Locust and Retox’s Justin Pearson, has a new singer – Faith No More’s Mike Patton. That’s quite a pickup for the band, who lost original singer (and Pearson’s Retox bandmate) Gabe Serbian, earlier this year.

This has been in the works for a while, as Pearson said back in December on Mike HIll’s Everything Went Black podcast that they were working on an album with “an established singer” and that there was a label lined up for the album, which will be produced by Ross Robinson. That label, obviously, is Ipecac. It’ll be pretty interesting to hear Patton work with Ross Robinson for the first time since he sang on Sepultura’s “Lookaway” in 1996.

Just in case you forgot, here’s the last time Patton and Robinson collaborated together, along with Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal and Korn’s Jonathan Davis. We’re pretty sure the new Dead Cross will sound nothing like this. Maybe the OC Weekly can write a review of the album before it’s out.
