Dead Cross post first song with new singer Mike Patton

We’ve been looking forward to hearing Dead Cross since we first heard about Dave Lombardo forming a band with members of The Locust. We even got to hear a song, “We’ll Sleep When They’re Dead,” from the band. Then Retox’s Gabe Serbian left the band and was replaced by Mike Patton and we got really psyched. While the band have signed to Ipecac and have an album due out sometime this year, we finally get to hear what they sound like with Patton. Perhaps because it was St. Patrick’s Day, the band released a song called “Shillelagh” on Friday.

Our first impression is that this is pretty great. Patton’s vocals and Lombardo’s drums are both amazing instruments on their own, and the straightforward punk aggression sounds great coming from both of them. While the song isn’t available on Soundcloud any more, it’s at least temporarily made it’s way to YouTube. There’s no word on when the album will be out, or even if this will be on it.
