What the hell is wrong with bassists this week? According to TMZ, former Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri was arrested after an intense standoff with a S.W.A.T. team at his L.A. home.

Police were reportedly called to the scene after neighbors reported a “disturbance” at Oliveri and his girlfriend’s house. The girlfriend told police that Oliveri had struck her the day before and she had returned to collect her stuff. Once she returned, the two got into a heated argument and Oliveri refused to let her leave the house. Oliveri also refused to let cops come into the locked house, forcing them to call in a S.W.A.T. team. After two hours, Oliveri let his girlfried leave, and gave himself up another two hours after that. Once inside, cops found a fully loaded high-powered rifle.

Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence, but was released after posting $100,000 bail. It is currently unclear as to how this new turn of events will affect Kyuss Lives! (featuring three out of four original members of Kyuss) and their upcoming tour plans. Unfortunately, though, Oliveri has had a history of such violent behavior (which was apparently one of the reasons why Josh Homme kicked Oliveri out of QOTSA in 2004).

Details are still emerging as we speak. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
