2. Philip Anselmo, Pantera

It probably seems hard to imagine there was ever a time when Pantera didn’t have Philip Anselmo on the mic. However, as long-time Pantera fans know, the band self-released three glam metal inspired albums with Terry Glaze before Anselmo joined in 1987. Granted, his first album with the group (1988’s Power Metal) was still a far stretch from the Pantera we would end up knowing and love. Still, it goes without saying that Anselmo played a major role in Pantera’s shift towards heavier sounding metal, as first heard on Cowboys From Hell.
