If you’re a sports fan and attend games on the regular, you have seen every type of talented singer opening the game with the National Anthem. Most of the time, those singers are either local talent, classically trained singers or aspiring pop artists but the Chicago Bulls decided to take a rather heavier route.
This past weekend, the Chicago Bulls had their opening game against the Washington Wizards at the United Center in their hometown and, instead of inviting a typical singer to sing the national anthem at the beginning of the game, they got Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna. If you know Belladonna’s chops, you know he’s a great singer but listening to him singing the anthem is just beyond fantastic.
This is not the first time Belladonna has taken the mic during the opening ceremony of a game. In the last few months, Belladonna sang the anthem at a Cubs game, and at a Bulls game in 2013. Definitely our favorite metal singer pulling off the national anthem amazingly, unlike others like Gene Simmons or Vince Neil who just… well, you can judge ’em yourselves.
