We all know about Lamb of God’s decision to decision to cancel their European tour after security concerns that arose minutes before their scheduled show in Tilburg, The Netherlands this week. While many can argue that anything regarding the safety of the bands, attendees and everybody involved should always be the priority, others may see it as a way of giving into the fear tactics perpetrated by the terrorist who attacked Paris last week.

One of those who think the latter is Destruction’s frontman Schmier, or at least that’s what it seems to be the case, as the bassist went onto his Facebook page to rant about an “overrated American band” cancelling their European tour.

The rest of the bands on the bill, Children of Bodom and Sylosis, decided to continue with their tour without them and others like Carcass and Napalm Death didn’t even consider cancelling their tour or even their scheduled shows in Paris.

While we understand Lamb of God has every reason in the world to feel uneasy regarding anything in Europe, it’s easy to see Schmier’s viewpoint of not letting fear win over freedom. Having said that, and to play devil’s advocate here, unlike Lamb of God, all the bands previously mentioned are European so there’s really no point on cancelling a tour in their own region to feel safer when the “danger” can be just a few hundred kilometers away from home.
