It’s funny to think how in this day and age, the unveiling of an album cover might seem less significant than a track listing or the release of a new song. But in the metal scene, people still get hyped up for album covers, and Opeth’s cover for Pale Communion is doing just that. The band posted the art to Facebook, which was crafted by long-time collaborator Travis Smith. Things have certainly been gradual for this new album, especially now that its release has been pushed back to August. But with the release of the album art, the release of the band’s first single, “The Cusp of Eternity”, doesn’t seem as far away anymore. Pale Communion will be out on Roadrunner Records August 26 and the first single will be out June 15.
