Andrew W.K. to party in all 50 states

Posted by on July 13, 2016

If there’s one thing we know about Andrew W.K., it’s that he likes to party. If there’s another, it’s that he enjoys metal enough to have had a member of Obituary, drummer Donald “DT” Hardy in his band at one point. And if there’s another thing, it’s that there’s a long-running rumor that Andrew W.K. might not really be Andrew W.K. We’re pretty sure that the motivational speaker, musician and partier are the same person, and it’s just been announced that he’ll be undertaking an ambitious spoken-word tour that will take him to all 50 states. The Power of Partying tour is being sponsored by his political party, the Party Party, and tickets go on sale this coming Friday (15) for the tour, which starts in September and extends through the end of November.

So an Andrew W.K. tour sponsored by his own political party running through one of the most divisive presidential races in recent history. Seems like it’ll be a great time to find out what’s on his mind, or even have him announce himself as a third party candidate, right? Wrong! Don’t look for something more party-isan than partisan. From a press release:

“This is not a political party rally, it’s a rally about partying with the political elements set aside,” insists Andrew. “This is my attempt to add something positive and unifying to the divisive atmosphere surrounding us in so many different forms. Without targeting or preaching to any one side, I want to see if we can party together in our common humanity. We will have a party about being people.”

“By its very nature, the inner experience of a human being can be a vortex of confusion and clarity. The current climate in America isn’t always aiding us in how to best grapple with the fundamental complexities of being who we are – being at our best. During this 50 state odyssey, we aren’t looking for a specific stance on any particular political issue. Instead, we’re looking to fortify the foundation of our spirit, so that we can each follow our individual destiny and pursue our own personal exploration of life as best we can. We are uniting around what we have in common – our shared humanity. This tour is a coming together for the sake of partying together. Even if we have different ideas from one another, or don’t know all the answers to all the questions, we can still party together. This is a celebration of positive partying – this is a party about partying.”

The good news is that in addition to the dates, which will include an open Q&A session and a chance to meet him in person, Mr. W.K. will be performing select shows with his entire band. Here’s where you’ll be able to party:
