Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe has spoken as the frontman is organizing a counter-protest against the Westboro Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. Blythe issued a statement via Instagram addressing the Church’s plan to protest against Danica Roem, the first openly transgender person to be elected to the Virginia General Assembly and as of January 2018, became the first to be both elected and serve openly as a transgender to a U.S state legislature. Roem is also friends with Blythe as the LOG frontman describes Roem as “an award-winning journalist, a heavy metal musician and all around #RIPPER.” As of this past Monday Monday (4th) Roem raised over $23,000 in response to the Westboro Baptist Church protest but, according to Blythe, there’s a lot more happening. The singer has urged all to join him in the protest this Monday (11th) at the Virginia State Capitol.

The Westboro Baptist Church is notorious for their excessive protests as we’ve seen Alestorm jokingly participate one of them in Kansas City during 2017’s Warped Tour. The Foo Fighters once fooled them as the black metal band Panzerfaust gave a dropping surprise of their own back in 2014. And here we are in 2019 as Blythe plans to take a serious protest against them.
