By now, you know all about the Westboro Baptist Church. And you probably already know that we’re not the only metalheads who are disgusted by Fred Phelps and his bigoted protest group. Usually they protest funerals for soldiers killed in Iraq, gays, and Jewish people (as well as the occasional concert). This past Friday (September 16), though, the group set their sights on the Foo Fighters in Kansas City. However, rather than ignoring the picketing, Dave Grohl and company gave the Westboro Baptist Church a little surprise.

Wearing the same costumes they wore in the “Hot Buns” video, the Foo Fighters hopped in the back of a pickup truck with instruments in hand and performed their country song “Keep It Clean” for the protesters picketing outside the arena and onlookers. The point was clear: piss off the Westboro Baptist Church. And to say that we enjoyed watching the Foo Fighters do just that is an understatement. We especially love hearing Grohl say “I don’t care if you’re black or white, or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum. It takes all kinds.”

The Foo Fighters have posted video of the “Keep It Clean” performance online, which you can watch for yourself up top. In case you really enjoyed hearing the group’s spin on country, you can listen to the Foo Fighters’ studio recorded version of “Keep It Clean” online as well.
