Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen has announced she’s cancer free! The artist recently revealed her breast cancer diagnosis and underwent surgery sometime after their last show in Mexico and before their European tour, which kicked off yesterday (20th). Thankfully, the results show everything cancerous has been removed. However, after the group’s European tour and 70000tons of Metal appearances, Floor will have to receive radiation therapy in February to ensure everything remains free and clear.
Floor issued the following statement via Instagram:
“Great news! I am cancer free The surgery took everything cancerous out and it hasn’t spread! I’ll get local radiation therapy in February to make sure everything stays out. I’m getting my energy back after the surgery and feel a huge relief to know it was successful! I’m not back to a 100% but I have no doubt the shows will give me the power push I need to rock with all of you on the upcoming European tour. Thank you for your amazing support and well wishes”
After her return to the road for the band’s European trek, she expressed before the show:
“And so it begins! After a tumuluous time we’re getting back on stage!! More than ever I am looking forward to and needing your energy. Thank you all so much for the well wishes over the last weeks and support! Now let’s dance and rock! See you tonight in Antwerp!”
Floor continued to show gratitude after the performance:
“We did it! Just over 3 weeks ago I returned from our Latin American tour, having to undergo surgery to remove my breast cancer. And last night I stood on the stage again, in front of you and with my brothers. What an unbelievable feeling! Thank you all once again, really. Tonight, a sold-out London Wembley Arena!!!”
Nightwish also chimed in to share their excitement on the good news:
“We are over the moon with the news that @floor_jansen_official is now cancer free! Knowing we’re starting the European tour together tomorrow in good health is something we are incredibly grateful for! We hope to see you all soon at one of our shows! “
