Slayer’s Dave Lombardo Streams Song From New Band Philm

Posted by on April 18, 2012

Slayer might be in the studio working on a new EP/album. However, drummer Dave Lombardo has also been working on the long awaited debut album from his other project Philm. And last night, Terrorizer premiered a new song by the rock trio called “Area.”

Before we go any further, though, it should be noted that anyone expecting to hear something similar to Slayer will be very disappointed. The new song itself somewhat resembles 90s alt rock blended with psychedelic elements. While still sounding heavy, what we’ve heard from Philm so far (including live footage) sounds more experimental and even (dare we say) accessible than Slayer. With that said, the song “Area” still sounds cool and has us looking forward to hearing the rest of their debut album Harmonic.

But don’t just take our word for it. You can stream Philm’s new song “Area” for yourself in the player after the jump (courtesy of Terrorizer). Philm will be releasing their debut album Harmonic on May 15 via Ipecac Records.
