Dave Lombardo is one of the best-known drummers ever, thanks to his two tenures in Slayer. He’s such a well-known drummer that even his subsequent band PHILM was well known for, well, for having former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo in the band. Now they no longer have that honor. On recent podcast ‘Let There Be Talk,’ Lombardo was a guest, and was pretty vague about his reasons for leaving the band.

“I’m not gonna talk about it. They didn’t want me to promote the band while I was with them, and I’m certainly not gonna do it when I’m without them.”

“I don’t wanna talk about it anymore. Yeah, so I just said, ‘See ya!”

It’s pretty interesting that the band didn’t want him promoting them, as, like we said, if Lombardo wasn’t the drummer for them, we certainly wouldn’t have known about them. Let’s see how much popularity they gain after they don’t have a famous drummer to help talk about them. Regardless, he’s got his hands full, as he’s working with Dead Cross now.
