Our weekly Metal by Numbers column takes a look at record sales, which if you think about it, probably isn’t the most complete way to find out what’s on people’s radar. Record sales still matter, but considering that the industry is moving towards streaming, it’s only one piece of the pie. Video games are another way to track what’s going on, and now that Guitar Hero Live has “Guitar Hero TV,” there’s another barometer of success – the songs that are featured on the always -rotating roster of songs on the channel. The team at GHTV has shared their top 20 most-played songs over the holiday break, and not surprisingly, a handful of the songs are metal. Tracks from the likes of Five Finger Death Punch, Deftones, Pantera and Disturbed made their way up the chart, with Queensryche’s “Eyes of a Stranger” and Tenacious D’s “Tribute two of the odder songs to make the top 20. ZZ Top’s “I Gotsta Get Paid” was the most popular song. Here’s  the top 20 songs that were played from Christmas Eve to Sunday, January 3.
