Shock rock legends GWAR will celebrate their 40th anniversary with The Return of Gor Gor, a multimedia release arriving July 25 via Pit Records and Z2 Comics. The package includes new studio tracks, live recordings, and a 32-page comic chronicling the resurrection of their monstrous pet T-Rex, Gor Gor.

Blothar reflects:

“The last time I saw Gor Gor he was just a wee fart dragon. He had crawled on the hood of my Kia Soul and was holding on for dear life while I drove to the store to buy Clamato. I bathed him in wiper fluid and used my wipers to knock him off my sweet ride. Next thing I know, he’s a 20-foot tall trans-species prostitute working a pickle park. Apparently, he’s all grown up and looking for revenge. This record chronicles his struggles as a young Dino-American trying to make his way in a cruel world.”

The release features three new songs mixed by Kurt Ballou, four live tracks from GWAR’s 2024 tour, and artwork-packed vinyl editions. To coincide with the announcement, the group shared a NSFW video for the new single “Lot Lizard.”

Blothar comments on the single:

“‘Lot Lizard’ is a blistering return to GWAR as a punk metal powerhouse with a sense of humor. What could be more charming than a song about a crack-addicted cross-dressing dinosaur prostitute that shreds weiners at truck stop pickle parks? Nuttin honey. That’s what. The song rocks. Listen ya mooks…”

GWAR will also hit the road for their 40th-anniversary tour this year. Additionally, This is GWAR will screen at Smodcastle Cinemas on August 30, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Kevin Smith and the band. Tickets for the screening and photo op packages are available at this location.

On the upcoming tour, Blothar adds:

“This tour is gonna suck. Once again we will be onstage suffering through the attacks of a giant tyrant lizard just so humans can come to the gigs and get shitfaced on White Claws and show us their tits. Please, for the love of all that is holy, show us your tits.”

Kevin Smith comments on the screening:

“As a relic of the 90’s, I’m happy to help celebrate these bloody legends who’ve been enthralling audiences since the 80’s!” GWAR has not only stayed true to their gruesome roots all this time, they’ve also carved out their place in industry history.”

Blothar adds:

“You ridiculous humans could learn a few things from Kevin Smith. If you’ve seen any of his movies, you probably already have. He wrote the 37 dicks scene (genius), he cast Alanis Morissette as God, he’s the King of Jorts, and he is GWAR approved. We are stoked to get stoned and hang out at his theater drinking watered-down soda and answering the questions of our pimply-faced legion of fans.”
