08) Radio Station forehead tattoo proves to be a bad idea

We’re not entirely sure how this epic fail made it to one of our top stories, but, somehow the tale of David Jonathan Winkelman’s famous radio station KORB 93 Rock tattooed on his forehead has landed at number eight. Winkelman originally received the tattoo at the beginning of the century when the Iowa-based radio station offered six figures for him to get the ink stamped on his face in the first place. Little did he know, there was no prize as it ended up being a terrible practical joke (ouch). Winkelman sued the station’s owner and eventually dropped the case. Ten years after this debacle, Winkelman was arrested on a misdemeanor charge for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent resulting in a mugshot to see an updated image of the faded tattoo.

At that time, the radio station changed to KQCS Star 93.5, an adult contemporary station. While we aren’t sure what happened to Winkelman since we do know Star 93.5 is no longer. According to Wikipedia, Star 93.5 struggled in ratings, and at one point, it was among the lowest-rated FM stations. The station switched to a sports-based program, and by August 30th, 2019, it went back to its rock roots after a 15-year absence and is now known as KJOC I-Rock 93.5.
