As word starts to spread about the CBGB Festival, much of the interiors of the original club are literally being packed into boxes and sent to Savannah GA, where a movie is being filmed about the legendary East Village club. When CB’s closed in 2006, owner Hilly Kristal, who must have known that he was sitting on history, had the club disassembled, itemized, and shipped off to the Brooklyn Navy yard – where it sat until yesterday. The New York Times has some shots of the club getting boxed up to be sent to Georgia, and the pics will be surreal to anyone that frequented the Bowery club.

So yeah, when Taylor Hawkins is channeling Iggy Pop and nods out in the notoriously filthy men’s room, he’ll literally be sitting on decades worth of celebrity shit. Meanwhile, if you’re in the Savannah area and looking to be an extra in the film, the Savannah Morning News reports that there’s a casting call until 8pm, and they’re looking for “music lovers, musicians, motorcyclists, 1970’s car owners and people with an overall ’70s look.” Hurry!
