nergal2Nergal sings the blues? That’s our suggested album title for the solo album from Behemoth frontman Nergal. While blues, country and folk are about the farthest thing away from Behemoth’s black metal excellence, that’s what he describes as the sound of his forthcoming solo debut. Last year, he said the music he was working on for a solo project would be “very stripped down and simple” and “The most primitive, acoustic-based stuff.” He’s followed up, via an interview with Czech outlet Spark TV, about the album, which is in the process of being recorded. “I’ve got this other  band going now, and I wanna wrap up the record in March and maybe have it out in September this year,” he says. “But it’s not metal, it’s blues, country and folk and I’m singing.”

It’s pretty exciting to know that by the time Behemoth returns to the States in April, he’ll already have finished recording his solo debut. So while the band will be performing The Satanist in its entirety, not only might the next Behemoth album have a touch of post-punk, but you”ll be getting a folk album from it’s singer before the follow-up is out. Behemoth tour dates after the video.
