Days of Jupiter’s new album, The World Was Never Enough, is now available via RPM (order here). The group has teamed up with Metal Insider to share a track by track guide of their latest release.
Introduction
The new album from Days Of Jupiter ”The world was never enough” is a highly anticipated release. This is because the last album was released back in 2018. Days Of Jupiter is a hardrock/modern metal band from Sweden and this is the bands fifth album. Here is a track by track breakdown.
Original Sin
The first single from the album and it was chosen because it is an typical D.O.J song with a heavy yet groovy riff and nice melodies and a big chorus. The lyrics is about that we inherits our forefathers sins and there is nothing we can do about that. What do we do in life and what do we leave behind for the next generations?
The world was never enough
The title track from the album is a really heavy song with a mellow vers that leads to a great chorus with nice melodies. Lyrically it´s about a relationship of a couple. The love between them is bigger than the world could ever offer.
Machine
An little more uptempo song with an epic ending that reminds of a blockbuster movie score. Our producer Peo Hedin has gone all in with the arrangements and made a great atmospheric soundscape on this song. It´s about how fastpaced the technical evolution is, and to manage we becomes more and more like machines. Emotionally numb and robotlike.
Desolation
A beautiful yet sad ballad. Naked, raw and filled with emotion. The song is written by Marcus Lindman and showcases his strenght as a guitarplayer with an insanely beautiful solo and Janne Hilli impresses with great vocals. Really strong and emotional lyrics on this one. It adresses anxiety and mental illness and how we sometimes walk the thin line between good and bad and how we find strenght to carry on.
The Fix
Great song that has a nice vibe with a lot of groove, it´s like you almost want to dance when the chorus hits. Cool and in your face style of bass playing from Janne Karlsson. This song showcases a variety of different feels, heavy, melodic and mellow. The lyrics is written from a drugs point of view. It knows that you cannot escape or flee..
Parazite
The music for this song is written by Marcus Lindman and this is his type of song for sure. You might get a seventies vibe and an intresting arrangement and many layers of guitars. Singer Janne Hilli explores a wide variety of vocal techniques. Cool song and a potential hit? The lyrics was written during the pandemic and lockdown of Covid-19, so it´s basically about that.
My heaven My hell
A semi-ballad that are heavy yet soft and beautiful. A chorus that pops out as a not so typical D.O.J style but it works just fine. Yet another strong vocal delivery by Janne Hilli. The lyrics explores a toxic and destructive relationship that is like fire and water, it does not go well together. You give it all you got and want´s it to work but in the end it doesn´t and everything is going south.
Denial
One of the last songs that we written for the album. A heavy song with a twist when you get to the chorus as it changes feel and time signature. Yet another relationships themed song lyrically. You know you are a perfect fit but you also know that you can´t be together for various reasons and that you are living in denial.
Ignite
Our most twisted song on the album. This one makes the least sense as has some crazy stuff in it. The guitars on the vers is a bit odd and then it evolves into a cool and melodic chorus. The bridge and solo are wacky and you can even hint some sibirian folk music?! The lyrics is about a person that is self-absorbed and got no self-awereness. It´s a wake up call for the person to stop with the self-pity and negative thuoghts and to get in the ring. Ignite!
Invincible
The last song of the album is a rather typical song in the D.O.J world. Cool riffing with great guitar melodies. A melodic almost classic heavy/power metal type of chorus. Thunderous drums and heavy bass in this one that makes it a great finish for the album. Have you ever had that feeling that you are invincible? That you are great and that it is you turn to shine? Its about the feeling you got from doing something great and that you are very proud of it. A perfect comeback story!
Conclusion
The world was never enough is our most thourough album to date. For the first time in our career we have had the opportunity to record this album without stress and a time limit which have made this albums songs get the attention that they deserve. Producer Peo Hedin has really put in a great effort in the arrangement and ”bling-bling” of the songs. He also did an excellent job producing and mixing this album. Hopefully new fans will discover Days Of Jupiter and follow us on our journey and adventure.
