02) Rock The Lakes 2024

This two-day festival is a gem on its own. It is located by Lake Cudrefin, an hour from Bern, and has a lineup that includes Kreator, Behemoth, and In Extremo. At first, the listing went over my head, but then looking at the offering more closely. I realized that it contains the trinity of Melodic-Death Metal: Amorphis, Dark Tranquility, and Insomnium all playing (If not the same day, at least a day apart) in the same festival. That is enough for any Melo-death fan to make the trip into the heart of the land that gave us chocolate, cheese, and secretive banking for a two-day summer metal festival by a lake (get your swimsuits ready).
To reach this festival, the logistics could fly out to Paris, Amsterdam, or Frankfurt, then take a train to Bern, then another to Cudrefin. With such a short distance, a stay in Bern or a setting camp on the festival grounds would be both suitable options.
