04) Brutal Assault

Without a doubt, Brutal Assault is the heaviest summer festival; this year, the festival will feature acts like Satyricon, Exodus, My Dying Bride, and Emperor. The festival is hosted in a fortress with special activities like art exhibitions and panels. The festival itself is not that big as the space is relativity small compared with other open-air festivals, but it offers two stages side by side, so there is not much of an overlap between acts; sometimes, you can just take a break and get yourself some food or a beer while waiting for your favorite bands to hit the stage.
Coming from the USA, the best option is to fly to Berlin, Prague, and Krakow, then take the train to the festival grounds. Keep in mind that this festival is quite rural, so while there are hotels in the villages near Josefov, people tend to camp out.
