5. Sugarloaf Mountain there and back hike –

This hike is the easiest on this list coming in at about 2.8 miles to the beautiful view of the Hudson River on top of Sugarloaf Mountain and back.  The yellow trailhead is about a half mile north of the white Breakneck Ridge trailhead on 9D just north of the town of Cold Spring.  My favorite aspects of the hike are the old and dead trees on the higher altitude part of the hike.  Their limbs twisted and turning give a dramatic silhouette for the Hudson River in the background.
