Why should major label bands be the only ones who get love? Unsigned & Streamed is a column where we stream a song from an unsigned band we at Metal Insider really dig.

This week, we’re excited to showcase .Gyre. from the New York/ New Jersey area. Comprised of former members of Junta and Thy, this five piece group joined forces about a year ago to push their creative bond even further. After spending most of their time rehearsing and writing, .Gyre. self-recorded and released their debut self-titled EP in December of 2011. .Gyre.’s fresh take on progressive metal reminds us heavily of Gojira with a thrash kick to it. So without further ado, give the song “Evacuate,” the first track off of .Gyre,’s self-titled EP, a listen in the stream below.

.Gyre, are in the works of performing more shows this Summer, including a set at Darkness Fest 2012 at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ on July 13-15. .Gyre.’s self-titled EP can be purchased via CD Baby and iTunes, while you can stay posted on all of their upcoming plans via Facebook.

If you’re in an unsigned band and would like to participate in Unsigned & Streamed, email a link to your band’s music and a brief bio to tips [at] metalinsider.com for consideration.
