Last night’s Revolver Golden Gods wasn’t just about handing out awards to hard rock bands. The evening was jammed packed with one-time-only special performances and its fair share of memorable moments. While we’ll let you scratch your head over who won what award on your own, let’s recap some of the key highlights from this year’s Revolver Golden Gods award show. Anthrax perform Pantera’s “This Love” and intro to Slayer’s “Raining Blood” with Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown
Talk about an amazing way to start off the show. It would’ve been amazing enough to see Anselmo sing “This Love” again by himself, let alone with Anthrax AND his former Pantera and Down bandmate. Furthermore, seeing the two Pantera members onstage together remarkable, especially considering that Anselmo recently referred to Brown’s reasoning for leaving Down as full of “mythology” in an interview with Metal Sucks. Making the moment even more touching was their segway into “Raining Blood” as a tribute to Jeff Hanneman.
