Have you ever seen Slash perform with a cartoon? Oh that’s right – a lot of people saw the Super Bowl this year. At any rate, the onetime badass has performed with Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and numerous other random celebrities (both on his solo album and live), and now you’ll get to see the Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver guitarist jamming with another cartoon – Phineas and Ferb. For those of you who aren’t parents with kids who force you to watch TV with them, Phineas and Ferb is an animated show on the Disney Channel. The show’s soundtrack, Phineas and Ferb Across The 1st and 2nd Dimensions, will be released on August 2 and features seven new songs in addition to fifteen tunes previously heard in the series. And yes, Slash will be performing on the soundtrack.
Slash’s guitar work will be heard on the song “Kick It Up a Notch,” which will be heard during the ending credits of the Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension made for TV movie. An animated version of Slash (as can be seen in the picture up top) will also be featured in the music video of said song. While the video has yet to be released, you can listen to the song for yourself over at Noisecreep.
As for how this collaboration came about, Slash himself explained the following in a previous statement:
“I’m a big fan of Phineas And Ferb. I watch a lot of cartoons and I think it’s one of the best shows. It’s well-written, very original and the characters are great. This whole experience has been surreal because I’m a big Disney fan. To be involved in this movie and having written some music for it is pretty exciting. It’s an honor to actually be animated in the ‘Kick It Up A Notch’ musicvideo.”
As odd as this may seem, we do have to admit that this is pretty cool. Now Slash can say that he’s been in multi-platinum bands, performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, AND has appeared in a Disney film. Not bad for a guy who isn’t real. Phineas and Ferb Across The 1st and 2nd Dimensions hits stores on August 2, while Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension premieres on August 5 on the Disney Channel.
