Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen has died. And man am I bummed about it. I spent the morning listening to Van Halen’s self-titled debut all the way through for the first time in a while and…well, I don’t need to keep telling you how much it sucks. You’re gonna see a sharp uptick in Van Halen sales next week, which will be depressing. But you know, Deftones have a #3 album, and that’s neat. There’s also a new AC/DC song out, which just goes to show that even when it seems like we’re in the shitty timeline, sometimes we catch a break.
