Tool played their only show of 2015 on Halloween in Tempe, AZ, with frontman Maynard James Keenan putting his exaggerated disdain for maniacal Tool fans aside. However, for all of the band’s inactivity this year, it looks like they’re going to start of 2016 with a bang, according to a posting on their Facebook page. While somewhat vague, if you strip away all the mysticism, it looks like they’ll be announcing some U.S. dates shortly for some January 2016 shows with an opening act that Tool fans should be psyched about. Here’s what the posting says:

Other than their Tempe show, the band last played about 14 shows in March of 2014, so there’s definitely a lot of demand to see them – almost as much as there is for a new album. With Puscifer’s excellent first sales week to buoy his spirits, things seem to be getting slightly more busy for Maynard. Could this finally be the band shaking the cobwebs off for their first album in ten years? Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. As for the opening band, we’re going to wildly speculate. Puscifer? Failure? Meshuggah? Sure, why not?
