Troy Young, a Brooklyn drummer who played on Spylacopa’s 2008 EP, was found shot dead in his apartment. He was 29. Spylacopa was an experimental project that featured members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Candiria, Isis and Made Out of Babies. “Drummer Troy Young, played on the Spylacopa EP, was shot to death in his apartment,” a posting on Dillinger frontman Greg Puciato’s Twitter page read. “Sad day. Talented drummer and nice person, 29yrs old.” Young had also logged time in bands The Spines and State of Emergency.
The New York Daily News reports that Young had been shot once in the shoulder, and the bullet peirced his heart. There are no suspects yet, but his sister told the New York Post that Young had been in a relationship with a girl that had another relationship. This is the second tragic death to befall a Brooklyn drummer in a little over a month, as former Maserati drummer Jerry Fuchs perished in an elevator fall last month.
