It’s certainly been an interesting weekend for Down. One minute, they’re jamming with some all-star friends, and the next their singer splits his head open onstage. First, during their set at the Maquinara Festival in Santiago, Chile this past Saturday (November 12), Down were joined onstage by Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver) and Mike Bordin (Faith No More/Black Sabbath). Video of McKagan and Bordin joining the band midway through a jam can be seen above.

Then, during Down’s performance at the SWU Music And Arts Festival in Paulínia, São Paulo, Brazil yesterday (November 14), singer Philip Anselmo proved once again that he will never hesitate to bleed for metal. The last time we saw Anselmo get his head busted onstage was after guitarist Pepper Keenan accidentally hit him with his instrument. This time, though, Anselmo split his own head after hitting himself numerous times with a microphone. That’s certainly one way you can add a little extra push in your performance. You can watch professionally filmed footage of the band performing “Lifer” at the SWU Music And Arts Festival [note: Anselmo starts to strike his head with a microphone around the 2:57 mark] after the jump.
