Earlier this week, Mastodon teased a new single, and today (31st), these Atlanta progressive metal masters dropped the new song, “Fallen Torches.” The track is taken from the group’s upcoming compilation titled Medium Rarities, a collection of rare tracks released digitally for the first time, along with the aforementioned new single, which will be released on September 11th. There will also be a limited edition double LP on pink vinyl available on October 16th. The collection consists of covers including Metallica’s “Orion,” instrumentals, soundtrack contributions, live recordings, and b-sides. Hopefully, all of this material will hold us over until the group finishes working on the follow-up to 2017’s Emperor of Sand.
