Metallica continue to share pro-shot videos from their North American leg of the M72 tour, supporting their latest effort, 72 Seasons, released earlier this year via the band’s Blackened Recordings label. The band recently released two clips from their Phoenix shows. The first is their performance of “Fade To Black” from night one at State Farm Stadium on September 1st. Despite frontman/guitarist James Hetfield appearing to have struggled with his voice that night due what later turned out to be a positive COVID-19 test, this rendition of the 1984 classic from Ride The Lighting, remained powerful. The track seems to consistently evoke a unique set of emotions, perhaps connected to Hetfield’s enduring attachment to it. Metalica continue to support suicide prevention, which has been seen throughout their North American trek with a PSA promoting mental health awareness and the helpline, 988.

The second video is from the rescheduled date on September 9th at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. It was reported as one of the best and extended shows, featuring Suicidal Tendencies, who filled in for Ice Nine Kills. Metallica shared a pro-shot video of “72 Seasons,” the title track from their latest album. These icons have done an excellent job promoting their new record and performing the material live, receiving constant praise from attendees singing along to the fresh beats, marking a slight departure from previous touring cycles from Hardwired and St Anger.

After a brief break, Metallica will return to the stage at this year’s Power Trip Festival on October 8th before concluding the 2023 leg of the M72 tour in St. Louis and Detroit. The tour has been a memorable journey, and Metal Insider will provide an extensive report once this year’s trek wraps up in November. So far, it has brought fans a digital audio recording release of their live debut performance of “Too Far Gone,” a phenomenal performance of “Fight Fire With Fire,” and more.

But wait, there’s more!
