While Metallica may be taking a brief break from their M72 tour, with Power Trip Festival being their next stop on October 8th, their updates continue to pour in, and they are nothing short of legendary. Metal Insider has gathered a handful of highlights.

Concluding their series of pro-shot videos from the Los Angeles leg of their no-repeat weekend, Metallica have treated fans to a performance of their classic track, “Enter Sandman,” recorded at the SoFi Stadium on August 27th. This iconic track hails from their self-titled 1991 record, famously known as the Black Album. Metallica has elevated “Enter Sandman” to a crowd-pleasing closing anthem during recent years, particularly during the M72 tour, where it consistently wrapped up the second night of each city’s performance.

Transitioning to their Phoenix shows on September 1st and the rescheduled September 9th concert due to James Hetfield’s positive Covid-19 test, Metallica’s relentless determination shined through. Despite Hetfield’s vocal struggles, which led to the omission of “The Day That Never Comes” and “Master of Puppets” from the setlist on the first night, the band insisted on pushing forward. Their recent pro-shot video release of “Holier Than Thou” from that evening astounded the Phoenix crowd. For some attendees, witnessing Metallica’s performance felt surreal, while others declared it the best night of their lives.
