Stone Sour like playing covers – that much has been established. First we heard them take on a Metal Church for the horror film that author and frontman Corey Taylor appeared in. Then they followed that up by announcing a Record Store Day-only EP, Meanwhile In Burbank… That EP had covers of Alice In Chains, Judas Priest, KISS, Metallica and Black Sabbath, a solid quintet of covers from the band’s roots.  While that EP was only available on vinyl, they released it digitally yesterday (28), and now it’s streaming online for everyone to hear.

The good news, if you like hearing a competent hard rock/metal band playing covers of songs, is that Meanwhile In Burbank… is only one of a planned series of three covers EPs. Straight Out of Burbank and No Sleep ‘Til Burbank will both feature five covers each, like the original. The other EPs will feature covers of songs by Rage Against the Machine, Motley Crue, Bad Brains and The Violent Femmes. Taylor told WGRD that the third EP would definitely have a cover of Van Halen’s “Unchained.”
