This time on Tool Insider, we get our monthly, or almost weekly, update on Tool’s anticipated new record, which we know sort of exists from what we have heard about it in the past decade, or that song they played during their last North American tour.
This update comes from one of the official moderators on Tool’s website who recently visited the rehearsal studio where the band jams and said the following about what he saw:
“At this stage of the writing/arranging process… there are only a couple of ‘shorter’ songs left to complete (?), along with a segue or two or three. Of course, we need to keep in mind any changes that might be needed to accommodate the vocals, etc., once all of the arrangements are finished.”
That’s basically it. We know the way Tool writes their music is by having the instrumentation done first before having Maynard James Keenan come in and do his vocals. Considering the usual inactivity and silence we have gotten from the band in the past few years, this is at least kind of a hint that there’s a little progress on that album. This could be wishful thinking though, as we have been talking about this for a decade and really want to stop doing it.
