The last time we heard from As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis, he was posting about the future of the band – on behalf of the band. After pleading guilty to hiring a hitman to kill his estranged wife, his sentencing was scheduled to be take place today. According to Lambgoat, or Lambesisgoat, as Metal Sucks refers to them because they’ve been following the case so closely, today’s hearing has been postponed. According to an insider (not a Metal Insider!), the sentencing is now scheduled to happen on May 16th. A court clerk had initially said that he could face up to nine years in prison for soliciting a hitman, although that’s the maximum that he would be eligible to serve.
Meanwhile, the remaining members of As I Lay Dying have announced a new band, Wovenwar, suggesting that regardless of what happens to Lambesis, they’re going to carry on without him. If you haven’t checked that band out, which features Oh, Sleeper vocalist Shane Blay, they’ve released a song called “All Rise.” The band’s debut album will be out this Summer on Metal Blade, at which time Lambesis might possibly not be able to buy it because he could be in prison by then.
