The rumor that former Creed singer Scott Stapp might be the new vocalist of Stone Temple Pilots spread like wildfire earlier today when he was interviewed by an Atlanta radio show and said he could neither confirm nor deny that he might be in the band. For their part, STP couldn’t confirm, but could definitely deny that Stapp wouldn’t be the next singer of the band.
Despite recent comments, Scott Stapp is not, nor has he ever been considered as the singer for STP.

There’s no word on who the band will choose to replace Bennington. They have had some open internet auditions for a singer, and apparently even former The Haunted singer Peter Dolving went out for the gig. We will get to hear someone famous sing for STP next Thursday, however, when Corey Taylor fills in at an event. As for Stapp, we’ll find out what the six-degree separation is that he mentioned in the interview. Maybe a member of Velvet Revolver?
