You may have heard that Stone Temple Pilots have launched a internet-based open audition for a new frontman. You download the instrumental, sing over it and slap it back up online for the band to review. You can even upload music videos. In an interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Dean DeLeo says the band has an idea of what they’d like to see, but don’t let that stop you.
What you may not have heard is that there’s a petition for ex-The Haunted frontman Peter Dolving to get the gig. It’s got 75 signatures so far, and the argument for Dolving is pretty funny.
“We the undersigned believe Peter Dolving should be given the chance to audition for the vacant vocalist position in Stone Temple Pilots. Other than to say his vocal prowess and charismatic stage presence make him an ideal choice to lead this new phase of STP’s already legendary career, we will let the music speak for itself.”
Opinions of Dolving aside, it’s clear Scott Weiland’s death has forever impacted the band, and it’s good to see them push forward.
