A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing incident Tuesday night at the Deicide, Broken Hope concert in El Paso. Reports say Jesus Ortega allegedly stabbed three men in the head, neck and chest with a box cutter around 10 p.m. inside the Tricky Falls nightclub and was later subdued by staff until police arrived.
The victims, who were ages 24, 35 and 39, were taken to the hospital. The wounds were not fatal and all three are expected to recover. Police told the El Paso Times that Ortega was involved in a fight in the club prior to the stabbing but reasons for the altercation are still unknown.
Broken Hope learned of the incident, saying paramedics arrived quickly on the scene, treating the one victim with the slashed throat very quickly, ultimately saving his life. In the meantime, Deicide has reportedly kicked Broken Hope off the tour. Broken Hope cites reasons for the boot happening before the fan stabbings.
