For their sophomore album, I Am King, Code Orange have trimmed their name down (from Code Orange Kids). The Pittsburgh band have also gotten much heavier, which we weren’t sure was possible. While their hardcore influence is still prevalent throughout the two songs we’ve heard so far, they’ve segeuwayed into more metal of a feel. This is a full on sludgefest, especially for the last minute of the song. This, combined with the title track of the album that we’ve already heard, has us looking forward to September 2nd, the date the album will be released on Deathwish Records. In keeping with the Converge theme, Kurt Ballou produced I Am King. The band will be hitting the road just after the album is released for a headlining tour in support of it. Here’s where you’ll be able to catch them.
