Yesterday, Code Orange promised something was happening today. And now it’s official – the band have signed to Roadrunner Records. The Pittsburgh band haven’t set a date for their follow-up to 2014’s I Am King yet, but with good reason – as of May 10, they’ll be on the road supporting Deftones. With the release of I Am King, the band changed their moniker, as they had been Code Orange Kids, not to mention kids themselves, when they formed in 2008. The band’s first two albums were recorded by Converge’s Kurt Ballou and released on Deathwish. Roadrunner’s SVP of A&R Dave Rath commented on the signing:
“Now is the time for the next generation of heavy bands to take the torch and run with it. Code Orange is at the forefront of that generation, pushing the boundaries and changing perceptions of what heavy music will be for the future. As the premier lifestyle label in heavy music, Roadrunner Records is proud to announce Code Orange as part of a roster rich with a history of game-changing bands. This band is sure to change the game for all who follow.”
